SAE Group has joined forces with Surfing Australia in a three-year partnership to help pump up the power of Aussie Surfing with renewable solar energy.
“We are stoked to be partnering with Surfing Australia,” said SAE Group Managing Director Glen Ashton.
“Our aligned vision to create a healthier, happier Australia whether that’s through surfing or providing clean, renewable energy solutions to all Australians, made it an easy decision. We love what Surfing Australia do and what they stand for and we are excited to power the development and continued growth of this iconic Australian sport and have a little fun along the way.”
Switching to solar
SAE Group tailor designed and installed a 99.66kW solar system on the Hurley Surfing Australia High-Performance Centre (HPC) as part of the centre expansion. This system included 4 x 20kW Fronius inverters, 302 x Seraphim 330watt commercial panels, and a smart meter. Based on a 10c tariff, Surfing Australia can expect a 65% reduction in their annual bill in comparison to before solar installation, with the initial investment being paid off after around 3.7 years.
Australian Surf Festival
Not only will SAE Group power the HPC, we have come on board as proud new naming sponsors of the SAE Australian Surf Festival as well. The 2018 SAE Australian Surf Festival, based on the Tweed Coast, saw more than 400 competitor from across the country compete in four disciplines over seventeen days of world class surfing. It was one of the biggest events in Australia’s surfing calendar, and SAE Group powered the event entirely with renewable energy via the use of one of SAE Group’s portable solar solutions.
Surfing Australia CEO Andrew Stark said: “We are extremely appreciative of the support of SAE Group and welcome them as a new partner of Surfing Australia. The new expanded HPC will be an amazing facility for Australian surfers and the local community and it is fantastic to be able to power the HPC utilising the latest solar power technology from SAE.”
