Covid Policy

 

PURPOSE
The purpose of this procedure is to provide guidelines to manage exposure and transmission of the Covid-19 (Corona virus) SAE Group will do what is reasonably practicable to eliminate those risks, or where this is not reasonably practicable minimise those risks.

SCOPE
The requirements of this procedure are to be adhered to for all activities involving SAE Group workers, this includes contractors.

RESPONSIBILITY
Managers & Supervisors are to implement and clearly communicate control measures to all workers, including providing clear direction and guidance about what is expected by all workers.

WORKERS
Workers are to:
• Comply with reasonable requests and implementations
• Notify your Manager if exhibiting any flu-like symptoms (via phone or email)
• Not attend work if you have had known contact with an affected person
• Self-quarantine for 14 days if showing symptoms or returning from overseas
• Seek medical attention, a medical clearance certificate must be provided to your Manager

PROCEDURE
HYGIENE
To protect yourself and others from infection, practice good hand and respiratory hygiene including;
• Washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after eating
• Frequent use of alcohol-based hand rubs / sanitizer
• Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or flex elbow when coughing or sneezing
• Avoid contact with anyone who has symptoms such as fever, a cough, sore throat, fatigue and or shortness of breath
• Maintain a distance of at least 1.5 metres from others where possible
• Wipe down, disinfect common areas daily, including door handles, fridge doors, lunch areas, tables, desk etc
• Use an antibacterial treatment in the air conditioning units

INTERACTION
OFFICE
• Face to face meetings to be suspended until pandemic subsides
• Communication to be via skype, emails or phone
• Sales staff to quote over the phone and avoid site visits where possible
• Where applicable staff should work from home

INSTALLATION CREWS
• Crews to stay the same where possible, avoid changing crew members
• Roster starting times to reduce the amount of people in the same area at the time
• Wash hands before entering vehicles
• Interaction with customers should be kept to a minimum
• Maintain a minimum distance of 1.5 meters when required to interact with customers
• Ask customers if they have recently been overseas or have any flu like symptoms

THE CONTINUATION OF BUSINESS OPERATIONS
ATTENDANCE AT WORK
It is SAE expectation that you attend work as normal during this time, unless;
• You are on a period of authorised leave (personal, annual or long service)
• You re not attending work under SAE specific instruction, or
• There is a safety reason why you can- not be at work that has been discussed and agreed with your manager

TEMPORARY BUSINESS CLOSURE
As time progresses, it may be necessary to temporarily reduce or cease operations, for example if someone in the workplace is diagnosed with Coronavirus
The Organisation will do everything possible to continue operating in these circumstances, however ultimately will take the action that is necessary to comply with Government advice and ensure safety within the workplace
In the unlikely scenario of a shutdown, we may have no choice but to place you on unpaid stand down. For clarity, this will only occur under specific circumstances in line with Fair Work Act 2009, and all alternatives will be considered prior to taking this step

WORKING FROM ANOTHER LOCATION
The Organisation will take steps to maintain normal business operations
To maintain normal business operations, it may be necessary for us to require you to work from an alternate work location if, for example, instructions from a third party mean that entry into our current workplace is not permitted. Your flexibility in this regard will be required.
It likewise may be necessary for you to work remotely. Advance authorisation to work remotely is required in every case.

HARASSMENT / BULLYING
SAE operate a zero-tolerance policy to all forms of harassment and bullying in the workplace. We will not tolerate any unacceptable behaviour to colleagues, suppliers, members of the public etc. Any complaints of this nature will be investigated in line with company policy and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal.

SUMMARY
• Consider whether activities, events can be postponed, reduced in size or cancelled
• Cancel non-essential business travel, extra-curricular activities
• Encourage flexible working arrangements including working from home
• Have adequate COVID 19 prevention supplies, hand wash, alcohol hand sanitisers
• Provide and promote hand sanitisers at building entrances and meal rooms
• Ensure high standards of routine environmental cleaning
• Clean and disinfect high touch surfaces regularly, including desks and keyboards
• Open windows, enhance air flow, adjust air conditioners
• Promote preventative actions amongst staff – lead by example
• Encourage personal hygiene, such as use of hand sanitiser or hand washing with soap by all staff
• Avoid large indoor meetings and lunchrooms, use outdoor venues if possible
• Plan for increased levels of staff absences
• Plan for what to do if staff arrive at work sick
